Endless Youth

Whether you're an avid swimmer or not, swimming has obvious benefits as opposed to other forms of exercise. With the lack of stress on joints, save perhaps shoulders, it is an ideal activity for all ages and is often used for physical therapy.

I have been swimming since I was just 5 years old and although learning how to swim can be a challenge it can be rewarding in ways I have only begun to realize as I venture into my early twenties. If you ever see older people swimming at the local YMCA then you're not alone, or the ever-exclusive women's water aerobics (aka gossip club). But, the fact that you see these older people in the pool tells you something. It shows you that the water is the most accepting medium for exercise.

So often you hear about sports injuries and people requiring rehabilitation due to joint or tendon issues, but swimming has allowed me over the years to maintain peak conditioning while making sure recovery is always easy. If you say, "Swimming is too hard" or "I'm just bad at it" that's OK. You don't have to be good at swimming to get a workout, and it doesn't take long for you to start learning how to make it easier. Swimming is simply fantastic, it works practically every part of the body all at once.

If you're still convinced you're not a swimmer then consider this: swimming in general helps speed up your recovery of muscles. What this means for athletes and others is that you can get an edge on your competition by speeding up your recovery process which ultimately means you can workout harder and more often than the other guys. In college swimming we often times warm-down after an intense exercise which helps get rid of the lactic acid built up in our system. So basically, by swimming (light to medium paced) you can get rid of that lactic acid that causes soreness and prevention of muscle building.

Swimming helps build muscle!

So why wouldn't you start using your local pool? Even if you just jump in for 30 minutes it'll be one of the most important 30 minutes of your workout week. After all, there's a reason why people marvel at the "swimmer's body", the water lets your body do things it normally could not. So BE SMART about your workouts and include some swimming, if nothing else to just rinse off after lifting.

The Joys of Salt Water Boating!

Just imagine yourself sitting on the dock of a boat, being lulled into serenity by the motion of the waves in the ocean. Saltwater boating carries with it many benefits and joys, including that of relaxation. There are millions of people throughout the world who feel that the only real way to relax is to head to the beach and sail away.

Whether you want to fish or ski, saltwater boating is a great way to connect with friends and family. You can spend the entire day on your boat just talking, laughing and sailing away. Other activities that are becoming very popular with saltwater boaters include snorkeling and scuba diving. If you are an experienced diver, there simply is no better way to wash away the stress of life than by going into the water and seeing all the nature has in store under the sea.

Saltwater fishing is an activity that can be as much fun as you can stand. The various types of fish that are available, the different rods, reels and bait and the different venues all make this activity available to anyone from eight to eighty.

Skiing and diving in salt water will wear you out by the end of the day and you will not believe how much fun either activity is. Divers see some of the coolest things in the water and there is nothing like going forty five miles an hour while standing on a couple of four inch by four feet pieces of wood while holding onto a rope behind a speeding boat.

Saltwater boating is a very common activity among vacationers. On beaches throughout the world you will find that there are many boats for rent, many that come complete with a captain, just in case you have no idea how to sail. From deck boats which offer a huge deck that is perfect for entertaining to fishing and skiing boats, you can find many boat rentals at beaches around the world that can cater to all your boating needs.

Even if you have never been on a boat in the ocean, you will likely enjoy saltwater boating. Whether you want to fish, swim, and dive or just simply lie on the deck and soak up the sunshine, being out on the clear blue waters of the sea have a calming effect that helps to relax you, improve your mood and even help you to feel healthier. Caravan Holidays - Without the Towing!

Static caravans, or caravan holiday homes as they are often known, are becoming more popular and with caravan sites situated all over the UK, there's bound to be one in an area you'll love to visit often.

Owning a caravan holiday home means that you can choose a unit on your ideal park and then have the freedom to use the holiday home as often as you like within the park's licence agreement. This could be up to 11 months of the year! You'll need to pay site rent to the park owner for the plot your static caravan is sited on, and for water and electric, in addition to the purchase price of your holiday home.

Buying a static caravan is an investment in your future holidays and may be of interest to you if you are planning to retire and would like to spend more time relaxing, without the stress of towing a touring caravan. Your static caravan will always be ready to use whenever you decide to pack a bag and head off for a few days or even a few weeks!

It can also be a great investment for young families as they can enjoy the school holidays away from home without the hefty price of staying in a hotel during the most expensive weeks of the year. Choose a seaside location and pack the bucket and spade to keep the children amused for hours.

There are many holiday parks that cater for different tastes, so whether you want peace and tranquility in a remote location, or a park with plenty to do and entertainment for the kids, there'll be one to suit you and your family's needs. And should your needs change or your family outgrow your holiday home, there's always the option to trade in the old caravan for a new one.

The cost of static caravans can vary greatly depending on the size, age and specification of the holiday home as well as the park on which it is sited. You'll need to do your homework and decide how much you're willing to spend. Also bear in mind the ongoing cost of site rent and any additional charges the park owner may make.

As a big investment, don't forget to insure your holiday home under a specialist policy that will cover both your caravan and the contents whilst occupied and unoccupied.
